It is believed that Mahala married Amos HIBBITT in Exton in 1830. They appear to have had one child, Charles Newbold HIBBITT, who was born in 1839.

The 1841 census shows Mahala living in Exton village with her husband, Amos, and baby Charles, and also her parents, George and Ann NEWBOLD, and other family members. Below is a list of those living in the household at that time.

There was a separate entry in the 1841 census showing a similar family (Mahala, Amos and Charles) living in Langham, Rutland, although the surname was spelt HIBBETT.

By 1851, the census had Mahala, Amos and son, Charles, living in Fretherne in Gloucestershire, registration district; Wheatenhurst, sub-registration district; Haresfield. Mahala's occupation was recorded as: Domestic Duties.

The 1861 census shows Mahala, Amos and Charles still living in Fretherne in Gloucestershire, registration district; Wheatenhurst, but the sub-registration district was now Frampton. The surname was recorded as HIBBETT once again.

The 1871 census shows Mahala was a visitor at her sister, Caroline's, home in Whitwell, Rutland (possibly because Amos was working away). Those living in the household at that time were...

In 1881, Mahala was a widow living at 4 Melbourne Terrace, Lady Wood, Birmingham, Amos having died the previous year. Living or staying with her was Edward L Smith, her nephew (her sister, Caroline's, son), and who's occupation was: (Porter) Railway Parcels; born in Whitwell.

Mahala was recorded as being aged 72 when she died in 1883. Her death was registered between April and June in Birmingham, Warwickshire.
