Biography and source notes for MARY ANN ASHBY
Mary was born in Hadstock, Essex, on 15th December 1843 and was the eldest daughter, and the second child, of Robert and Eliza ASHBY. According to her birth certificate, Mary's mother Eliza, registered her birth on 22nd January 1844.
Mary was baptized in the Parish Church of Hadstock on 10th February 1844 and her father's profession was noted in the parish records as a labourer.
