Bigland's HISTORICAL MONUMENTAL AND GENEALOGICAL COLLECTIONS RELATIVE TO THE COUNTY OF GLOUCESTER printed from the papers of the late RALPH BIGLAND.
A good number of these gravestones and monuments, transcribed in the late 18th century, have since disappeared or become illegible through weathering, making this a valuable source for family historians.

(Did you know the Pilgrims are remembered in Plymouth, England, and not just in America? The Mayflower Steps Memorial is located in the area known as the Barbican in one of the oldest parts of the city of Plymouth in South West England. The actual steps from where the Pilgrim Fathers departed no longer exist. A granite block set in the pavement was the original memorial, although this was previously set in the roadway. A plaque commemorating the historic journey was erected alongside in 1891 and the Doric portico was added in 1934. This in turn is flanked by the American and British flags. Some of the Pilgrim Fathers spent their last night at the 16th century Island House where there is a plaque on the wall listing all the names of the passengers who sailed on the voyage.)
