During the 19th century, Hodgecombe Farm near Uley in Gloucestershire was the home of Benjamin Pitcher and his wife, Sarah (nee Rice). Afterwards, the farm was managed by their eldest son, James Rice Pitcher, and his wife, Ann (nee Powell).
