SAVORY, Patricia Eileen.- On 23rd July, 1964, aged 42 years, at Bellemeade, Hyattsville, U.S.A., beloved wife of Edward, and darling mother of Edward and Linwood (twins); daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Geake; dear sister of Lily, Leslie, Doris, William, Ivor, Basil, Ronald and Kathleen. [Note: Eileen was actually aged 41 when she died].

Died In U.S.A. --------------- The very sad news reached England this week of the sudden death of Mrs. Eileen Savory, who many Tavistokians will remember as Eileen Geake. She was only 42 years old, and is survived by her husband, whom she married at Tavistock Parish Church in June, 1945, and her twin sons, now aged 17 years. Mrs. Savory last visited her family in Tavistock some ten years ago shortly before her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Geake, of 17, Crelake Park, Tavistock, had their Golden Wedding Anniversary. She was born in Wales, one of a family of eleven children, and moved with her parents to Tavistock where she attended Dolvin Road School. When she left school she worked at the Model Laundry until she was 23, when she married an American Serviceman and returned home with him to Richmond, Virginia. They moved from Richmond after some years at [sic] Hyattsville, Maryland, and it was there that she died suddenly last Thursday, 23rd July. Her untimely death has come as a great shock to her brothers and sisters, and to the many Tavistock people who will remember her. [Notes: Eileen was actually aged 41 when she died. The couple moved from Richmond to Hyattsville. I have found no evidence in any passenger lists to support a visit to England in approximately 1955 when Eileen's parents celebrated their Golden Wedding. Nevertheless, this isn't proof that it's not accurate.]

SAVORY – GEAKE At Tavistock Wearing a gown of maroon marocain, trimmed with blue and embroidered with blue flowers and gold thread, and carrying a shower bouquet of roses, lilies, sweet peas, and trailing fern, Miss Patricia Eileen Geake, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Geake, of 17, Crelake-park, Tavistock, made a charming figure for her wedding at Tavistock Parish Church on Wednesday. The bridegroom was Corpl. Edward Carlyle Savory, of the United States Army, second son of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Savory, of Richmond, Virginia, U.S.A. Preb. H.L. Bickersteth officiated. In the absence of her father, the bride was given away by her brother, Mr. J. Geake. Two of the three bridesmaids – Miss Kathleen Geake and Miss Sybil German (the bride’s sister and friend respectively) – wore pale blue frocks and navy blue and maroon hats, and carried shower bouquets of sweet peas and fern. The other – little Miss Maureen Geake (niece of the bride) – had a pale blue frock, with a blue coronet and white shoes. Her posy was of roses and carnations. The best man was Acm. (1) Basil Geake, R.A.F., and the ushers Sergt. Walter Newman, R.A.F., and Mne. William Geake, R.M. After the reception at Genoni’s Café the happy couple left for Torquay for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a grey coat and navy hat. Nine out of the ten children of Mr. and Mrs. Geake attended the wedding, the one absentee being with the Forces overseas. The father of the bride was unable to attend through indisposition. The Jolly Bakers made the wedding cake. [Notes: Eileen did not have a brother called Mr. J Geake. Her brother, Leslie, was Leslie James Geake. Eileen's father, James Geake, can be seen in family photos dressed up as though he had attended the wedding.]
